Driving Austin, Driving Injustice

By undertaking this study, we hoped to gain a greater understanding of the taxi cab industry in Austin. This industry is created and minutely regulated by City ordinances. To this end, we reviewed the history of the franchise system in Austin, studied systems in other major metropolitan areas, examined transportation issues, and surveyed 66 current drivers. This is the first time such a large survey of taxi drivers has been undertaken in Texas.
